Professor Mark Tuthill
Shihan Mark Tuthill, a two-time inductee into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as “Instructor of the Year”, has been training in the martial arts for the past 40 years and teaching professionally for 33. His training began under Sensei Mike Teto, the Founder of Shin-Yo Karate, and with Professor Wally Jay, Founder of Small Circle JujitsuTM and two-time inductee to the Black Belt Magazine's Hall of Fame. Shihan Tuthill continues to train extensively with Ed Melaugh, 9th Degree Black Belt in Small Circle JujitsuTM
In 1996 Professor Wally Jay honored Shihan Tuthill, naming him “Head Instructor of Long Island Small Circle JujitsuTM. In 2004, Shihan Tuthill was elected as the “Director at Large” of Jujitsu America, one the largest Jujitsu organization in the U.S. In 2015 Shihan Tuthill was honored in the Hall of Fame/Hall of Honor as “International Instructor of the Year” by the American Federation of Martial Arts. And, in 2016 Shihan Tuthill was once again honored by the AFMA and given the title of “Shihan”, Master Instructor.
Shihan Tuthill has earned his Black Belt 7th degree in Small Circle JujitsuTM, Black Belt 5th degree in Kodenkan Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and 2nd degree in Karate. In 2010 he founded “Street Combat JujitsuTM. His dojo is the premiere Martial Arts center on the East End.
Outside the home dojo, Shihan Tuthill travels extensively teaching seminars throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Europe. In 2004, Shihan Tuthill and Professor Melaugh performed in Prague for 3,000 spectators at the “Buddha Show”, the largest Martial Arts event in the Czech Republic. They were the first Americans ever invited to this prestigious event.
Shihan Tuthill is also the founder of “Centerline Football”, a breakthrough training program whose DVD is used by training camps ranging from pee-wee to professional. Shihan Tuthill also conducts women’s self-defense/rape prevention seminars as well as street self-defense to law enforcement agencies throughout the country including the FBI, DEA, State Police, Correctional Officers and Sheriff’s Departments.
